| Day 6 - Continued - Mammoth Cave, KY A sight seeing craft had to yield as we cross the river on our return trip to the campsite. We attended the ranger led campfire program at the park in the evening. The show's theme was all about Mammoth Cave Adventures. A historical look at the cave system, how it came to be, its living creatures, how it developed over time, how humans used/exploited the cave through history and how the cave will be preserved as a National Park. Great old photos and stories. Restored train used to bring tourists to the cave. |
| Day 6 - Continued - Mammoth Cave, KY After the tour, we were off exploring on our own. A local state park awaited us after the "free" ferry ride across the river. We had the whole beach to ourselves and one other small group from Belgium. Boy would that park get used in NY and look great. Water was very warm but still refreshing. The boys played ultimate in the water as well as practiced their snorkeling. |
