| Day 7 - Travel to Pensacola Long drive (478 miles), through Tennessee and Alabama. We drive past Huntsville and stop only for lunch, not enough time for a worthwhile tour as originally planned. We shoot to reach south of Montgomery so the final push to Pensacola will be shorter, so we think. We find a campground near Castleberry and set up in time to avoid a short but severe rain storm. |
| Day 8 - Pensacola, Florida Only 95 miles today. Great visitors' center, we make ourselves at home and catch up on emails and the news. Also very helpful with information, they direct us to a dive shop right on the way to Pensacola beach and Fort Pickens. Then it happenned, just before the bridge to Pensacola Beach we lose the leaf springs on the right side of the trailer. We fumble (its Sunday) our way to the nearest repair shop.Two hours later we finally arrive and camp at Fort Pickens, minus a trailer. We anticipate the worst delay of the trip. |
